How It Works
FlowState uses semantic search powered by AI:
- Every sample is analyzed and tagged by AI
- When you search, AI understands the meaning of your query
- Results are ranked by relevance, not just keyword matching
- You can describe vibes, moods, and genres—not just sound names
Using the Sample Browser

Open the Samples tab
Click "Samples" in the bottom panel or press 3. -
Type your search
Describe the sound you want in natural language. -
Browse results
Click samples to preview them. -
Add to your project
Drag a sample to the timeline or click the + button.

Tip: Be specific! "punchy kick with long tail" works better than just "kick". The more detail, the better the results.
Search Tips
Use Descriptive Words
- Texture: crispy, warm, gritty, clean, muddy
- Character: punchy, soft, aggressive, mellow
- Length: short, long, sustained, staccato
- Frequency: deep, bright, mid-range, sub
Combine Terms
Stack descriptors for more specific results:
- "deep punchy 808 with long sustain"
- "bright crispy trap hi-hat"
- "warm dusty lo-fi piano loop"
Use Negatives
Tell the AI what you don't want:
- "snare without reverb"
- "kick not too boomy"
- "hi-hat nothing harsh"
Filtering Results
Use filters to narrow down results:
- Category — Drums, Bass, Synths, Vocals, FX, etc.
- Key — Filter melodic samples by musical key
- BPM — Find loops that match your tempo
- Length — One-shots vs. loops
Previewing Samples
- Click a sample to play it
- Click again to stop
- Samples play in sync with your project tempo (loops)
- Preview while your project plays to hear it in context
Adding Samples to Your Project
Drag and Drop
- Click and hold a sample
- Drag it to a track on the timeline
- Drop it where you want it
Quick Add
- Click the + button on a sample
- It's added at the playhead position
- Or added to a new track if needed
Voice Search
Use voice commands to search samples:
- Click the microphone button
- Say "Find me a [description]"
- Results appear in the Samples panel

Saving Favorites
Save samples you like for quick access:
- Hover over a sample
- Click the heart/star icon
- Access favorites from the Favorites filter
